Silicon Nitride Full Ceramic Bearings

Silicon Nitride Full Ceramic Bearings are made with silicon nitride (Si3N4) ceramic material for the inner and outer rings and the rolling elements. The retainers can be made of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), Nylon 66, polyether ether ketone (PEEK), zirconia, silicon nitride, stainless steel, or special aviation aluminum. Besides having all the characteristics of zirconia ceramic bearings, silicon nitride full ceramic bearings also offer light weight, high hardness, improved wear resistance, and enhanced high-temperature resistance. They can operate at higher speeds and load capacities, withstand stronger acid and alkali corrosion, and perform well in more extreme environments and specialized working conditions. When paired with full-ball configurations, they can be used in environments with temperatures above 800°C. When combined with stainless steel cages, they can withstand temperatures above 450°C. With PTFE or PEEK retainers, they can be used in environments over 250°C.

Features of Silicon Nitride Full Ceramic Bearings:

  1. High Speed: They possess advantages such as cold resistance, small elastic modulus, high compressive strength, poor thermal conductivity, light weight, and low friction coefficient. They can be used in high-speed spindles and other high-precision equipment operating at speeds between 12,000 RPM and 75,000 RPM.

  2. High Temperature Resistance: The material itself can withstand temperatures up to 1200°C and has excellent self-lubricating properties. They do not expand due to temperature differences when operating between 100°C and 800°C, making them suitable for high-temperature equipment like kilns, plastic manufacturing, and steel production.

  3. Corrosion Resistance: The material inherently resists corrosion, making it applicable in environments with strong acids, strong alkalis, inorganic and organic salts, and seawater. They are used in electroplating equipment, electronic devices, chemical machinery, shipbuilding, and medical instruments.

  4. Non-Magnetic: Being non-magnetic, they do not attract dust, which reduces premature bearing failure and noise. They are suitable for demagnetizing equipment, precision instruments, and similar fields.

  5. Electrical Insulation: They have high resistance, preventing electrical arc damage to the bearings, and can be used in various electrical equipment requiring insulation.

  6. Vacuum: Due to the unique self-lubricating properties of ceramic materials without the need for oil, silicon nitride full ceramic bearings can operate in ultra-high vacuum environments, overcoming the lubrication challenges that conventional bearings face.
